Battery Waste Management
In order to minimize pollution and dependency of fossil fuels, use of battery is highly supported. Thich also gave a boom in EV industry which is not yet fully explored. Many other gadgets and electronic equipment run on battery and that is going continue to be so for a very long time. However, battery itself is a hazard if not disposed correctly. Hence, under CPCB it is a mandate responsibility of PIBOs ( Producer / Manufacturer, Importers, Brand Owners ) to acquire EPR certificate for Battery Waste Management.
Who needs to apply for Battery Waste EPR and its validity?
All sorts of battery used in small gadgets to Electrical Vehicle are eligible for EPR approval. Any entity involved in selling, distributing, importing, segregation, transporting, refurbishment, recycling of battery will bear the obligation to comply under the rules for EPR approval for battery waste.
Validity : Initial offline / temporary validity of EPR certificate will be for 6 months which needs to be renewed online on the portal.
