LMPC stands for Legal Metrology Packaged Commodity. Any importer or manufacturer involved in sale of packaged commodity, consumer product, food product need to mention measurement of the product on the packaging. This requires to be licensed by Metrology Department of Consumer Affairs and this license is known as Legal Metrology Packaged Commodity License (LMPC).

Who needs LMPC certificate?

Importers or manufacturers engaged in selling pre-packaged commodities in a state must apply to the Controller of Legal Metrology in that specific state.

Importers or manufacturers who intend to sell their pre-packaged consumer goods in multiple states must register with the Director at the center.
